Spectra Precision EPOCH 35 GNSS System
This document outlines the basic procedures for updating EPOCH 35 GNSS
firmware. This document covers ONLY how to update the GNSS firmware,
which is separate and distinctly different than updating the MPU firmware.
Required:
67410-xx EPOCH 35 Receiver
54344-10 Battery (fully charged)
59046-10 Instrument cable
WinLoad Firmware loading software
Procedure
1)
Download the firmware update file from the Partners website
2)
Extract the firmware update file to a directory on the computer you will use for the updates
a.
The firmware update file includes the firmware, loading scripts, a database of all
licensed GNSS boards, and the WinLoad firmware loading software
3)
Use the EPOCH 35 Service Software to verify the GNSS board firmware version number. Do
not reload the same version of firmware.
4)
Prepare WinLoad
a.
Check for a more current version of the 3620.hex file on Spectra Partners or web site
i.
If a newer file is available, download it and place it in the WinLoad directory
b.
Double click on WinLoad.exe to launch the program
c.
Click on File | Open File
i.
Select 3620.hex from the X.xxx Update Disk directory (where X.xxx is the
version number of the firmware you are loading)
ii.
The Write Flash and Query Card buttons will become active once the hex file is
loaded.
d.
Click on Settings | Com Settings…
i.
Insure the Com Port is set to the COM port of your PC that the instrument cable
will be connected to
ii.
Insure the Download Baudrate is set to 115200
iii.
Insure the Connect Baudrate is set to 9600
iv.
Click OK to close the Com Port Setup dialog box
