) until there is a gap of no more than 2 to
3mm between it and the top surface of the sample to be compressed.
Now close the front safety guard (

) to its down/safe position. The
“Close Guard” message will disappear from the display. The press will
show 0.0 TONS for the actual load and illumination of the left button,
right button and accept button symbols. (These are prompt signals to
indicate the next possible step). The Increase/Set Load symbol on the
Menu Bar will also be illuminated.
Applying a Load with the Atlas™ Auto 40T Press
Once the sample is correctly positioned and the guard has been
closed, the “Pump up to” load can now be set. When the Increase/Set
Load symbol is illuminated on the Menu Bar, it is accepted by pressing
the accept (tick) button (

) on the front panel (

). The Display Screen

) changes to show a slide cursor corresponding to the current “Pump
up to” Load position on the load range indicator for the Atlas™ Auto
T40 press. (The range is 4.0 to 40.0 Tons). The PZ program segment
steps are displayed above the slide cursor in the Menu Bar. The
“Pump up to” load is changed by use of the left (

) and right (

)
buttons on the front panel (

). As the load is raised the slide cursor will
move to the corresponding position on the load range indicator. The
right (
15
) and left (
14
) buttons raise or lower the load in 0.5 ton steps.
The load to be applied is shown in the S0 segment of the PZ program
displayed on the screen above the slide cursor in the Menu Bar. Once
the correct “Pump up to” load has been selected, press the accept
(tick) button (

). The Display Screen will change to illuminate the
Increase/Set Load symbol on the Menu Bar and the “Rdy” status
symbol will illuminate. If no function is carried out for a period of 30
seconds the “Rdy” status will change to a “RDY” status symbol.
Note:
When either the “Rdy” or “RDY” status is displayed the
start button (11) can be pressed to apply any “Pump up to”
load that has been selected.
Application of the “Pump up to” load selected is always going to be the
first segment (S0) of any program sequence. The segment S0 will be
seen for the Simple Program PZ that is running.
