Communicating without Access Point (ad-hoc)
An ad-hoc network is a network in which a local network is created only by the wireless devices themselves, with no other central
controller or Access Point. Each device communicates directly with other devices in the network. You can set up an ad-hoc network
easily at home.
To communicate without Access Point (ad-hoc), proceed as follows:
1
Turn on the Wireless (VGN-A series) or Wireless LAN (PCG-K series) switch.
On VGN-A series, the Wireless Device Switch dialog box appears.
Select the Enable 2.4 GHz Wireless LAN check box and deselect the Enable Bluetooth Device check box, then click the OK
button.
2
Double-click the network icon on the taskbar displaying Wireless Network Connection.
The Wireless Network Connection dialog box appears.
3
Click the Change advanced settings button.
The Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box appears.
4
Select the Wireless Networks tab.
5
Click the Add… button.
The Wireless network properties dialog box appears.
