Picture quality
Symptom Possible causes/Action
The picture is out of
focus.
The picture is too dark.
The colors of the
picture taken indoors
are not correct.
A part of the picture is
missing.
• Focus is off.
t Check the distance between
the lens and the subject and
place the subject at the range
within which the focus is in.
• The camera was moved when
you pressed the release button.

Hold the camera correctly,
then press the release button
slowly.
• The lens is dirty.
t
Clean the lens.
• The flash was blocked by a
finger or other obstacle.
t Hold the camera correctly, and
make sure nothing blocks the
flash.
• The subject was too far away.
t Take the picture within range
of the flash.
• The subject was backlit.
t Use the flash.
• This is due to fluorescent
lighting.
t Set the white balance
correctly.
• A finger was blocking the lens.
t Hold the camera correctly, and
make sure a finger does not
block the lens.
Troubleshooting
If you run into any problem when using your UPX-
DP10, use the following table as a guide to
troubleshoot the problem. If the problem persists,
contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony
service facility.
While shooting
Symptom Possible causes/Action
A picture cannot be
taken when you press
the release button.
The flash does not
light.
• The PLAY/CAMERA switch is
not to set to CAMERA.
t Set the switch to CAMERA.
• The camera is getting ready to
take a picture (the standby lamp
is flashing).
t Wait until the standby lamp
lights in green.
• The memory is full (the standby
lamp is flashing in red).
t Check the displayed remaining
number of shots that can be
taken. If zero, erase any
picture that is not necessary.
• The flash button is not set
appropriately.
t Set the flash button to A ,
or E.
• The cord of the external strobe is
not connected to the camera.
t Connect the cord of the
external strobe to the FLASH
jack of the camera.
• The battery is discharged.
t Charge the battery or replace it
with a new one.
t The strobe may be out of life.

Liquid crystal display of the camera
Symptom Possible causes/Action
When taking a picture,
no image is displayed
on the LCD.
No playback picture
appears.
If played back in cold
weather, the picture
may seem to present
curved sides.
The image presents
some red, blue and
green dots, or there
are black spots visible.
• The PLAY/CAMERA switch is set
to PLAY.
t Set the switch to CAMERA.
• The LCD MONITOR switch of
the camera is set to OFF.

Set the switch to ON.
• The image data are being
transferred to the station.
t The LCD is automatically
turned on when the image
transfer is finished.
• The PLAY/CAMERA switch is set
to CAMERA.
t Set the switch to PLAY.
• Condition due to the liquid
crystals.
t Normal condition
