Combinations and Functions with the Fn Key

applications.) Turns off when information
moves across the display

Combinations/Feature Functions
Fn+ (ESC)
Fn+ (F12)
FN+ESC and FN+F12 give the same result. Those two FN key
combinations put the system into
Standby or in Hibernate mode,
two power management states. The power management state
depends on the settings on the
Advanced tab in the Power
Management Properties (Start / Settings / Control Panel / Power
Management). If you select the setting Standby , both key
combinations FN+ESC and FN+F12 put your notebook in Stanby
mode. To return the system to the active state, press any key. If you
select
Hibernate , both key combinations FN+ESC and FN+F12 put
your notebook in Hibernate mode. Hibernate provides for the
lowest level of power consumption. When you execute this
command, the states of the system and of the peripheral devices are
written to the hard disk and the system power is turned off.

Speaker volume
Adjusts the built-in speakers’ volume.
To increase volume, press
Fn+F4
To decrease volume, press Fn+Shift+F4

Brightness control
Adjusts the brightness of the LCD.
To increase light intensity, press
Fn+F5 .
To decrease light intensity, press Fn+Shift+F5 .
The combinations: FN with F2 /
F3 / F7 / F8 are not available.
