8.2.2 Transponder Replies to Commands, but not to Interrogations

Transponder replies to
commands, but not interrogations
Transponder disabled
Check by reading the transponder
CS reply
EC1 indicates the transponder is
enabled for CIS interrogations
EC0 indicates it is disabled.
The incorrect CIS signal.
Check the transponder CS reply
Battery capacity is too low.
Check the battery voltage as
reported by the VS reply. Charge
the battery.
Transponder may have been
moved from original position.
Check transponder position.
8.2.3 Transponder Replies to Commands, but Telemetry Errors are Detected

Transponder replies to
commands, but telemetry errors
are detected.
Noise level at surface transducer
too high
Lower the dunking transducer /
transceiver or towfish and reduce
the surface transceiver gain.
Do a noise check using the
applicable transceiver noise check
command.
Set the transponder to high power
telemetry transmission using the
TPL parameter in the CS
command.
Other acoustic systems maybe
operating in the same frequency
band.
Check for signals validating by
using the noise command on the
surface transceiver.
8.2.4 Battery Life is Shorter than Expected

Beacon is charged for specified
amount of time but battery life is
not lasting as long as expected.
Incorrect charger being used
Check that the Comms/Charger
box is the correct part ( Dwg 8370-
011-01/02 ) and the PSU being
used has the correct rating ( 1.3 A
30 V )
NiMH battery has degraded
Contact your nearest Sonardyne
office to get the unit repaired.
