Power Management
Chapter 5
5.3
Power Peripheral Devices
The receiver is capable of providing power to a peripheral device
through its COM port. The output voltage is limited to 10 V
at <1 A. Peripheral power is not functional when the receiver is
operating using the backup battery.
If the peripheral device attached to the receiver draws too much
power from the battery output, the receiver will limit the current
available to the peripheral to prevent damage to the receiver.
Once the excessive load is removed, power will once again be
provided for peripherals.
5.4
Store the Receiver
The receiver draws a small amount of power from the batteries
while the receiver is off. For long term storage, you should
remove the battery.
5.5
Insufficient Power
If the internal battery and any external power input voltage are
below minimum operating parameters (in other words, if the
main battery is depleted, or external power is removed or
insufficient), the receiver will initiate a power-down sequence. It
will turn off and become inactive. If this happens, you will not be
able to turn the receiver on until you restore sufficient power.
To return to normal operation, insert a charged battery or connect
a valid external power input to the receiver.
NOTE
✉
By default, the COM port is not sent power. Contact your distributor for
details about setting the COM port to provide power to peripheral
devices.
NOTE
✉
If you use the SOKKIA-recommended peripherals, you will not
overload the receiver. System overload can only occur if you attach a
peripheral that has not been approved for use with the receiver.
