iv. OIL CHANGE AND OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT
The engine oil, in a new engine, is quickly contaminated by residue of the internal parts during run-in. It is
very important that the first oil change be carried out in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
Subsequent oil changes must be carried out using the same operating procedure (after 500 operating hours
or 1 year of activity; replace the oil and oil filter at the same time).
Proceed only with the motor at a standstill and at low temperature so as not to run the risk of burns,
following the instructions below:

Use only the oil specified below. Other engine oils may compromise the validity of the warranty,
cause seizing and/or shorten the service life of the engine.

Prevent the engine oil from being contaminated with dirt and cuttings. Carefully clean the oil
cap/dipstick and surrounding area before removing the cap.

Do not mix different types of engine oil

Do not overfill. Overfilling may generate white exhaust smoke, over-revving or internal damage.
Drain the engine oil as per the following procedure:
1. Make sure the engine is level
2. Start the engine and bring it to operating temperature
3. Shut down the engine
4. Remove one of the fill caps ([1] or [2] in figure 1) to vent
the casing and facilitate drainage
5. Place a container under the sump drain cap to collect the
used oil
6. Remove the sump drain cap ([1] in figure 2) and wait for it
to completely drain
7. Once drainage is complete, screw the cap back onto the
sump (55 Nm torque)
8. Dispose of the used oil according to the relevant
regulations in force
Note: the oil drain cap may be located in a different position if an
optional oil sump is used
Remove and replace the oil filter as per the following procedure:
1. Unscrew the filter in a counter-clockwise direction ([2]
figure 2) using a suitable spanner
2. Thoroughly clean the surfaces of the support in contact
with the sealing
3. Moisten the sealing gasket of the new filter with a layer
of oil.
