7.

To Raise the Upper Boom:

Push the control lever for the upper boom to
the up position. The upper boom will rise
until it reaches its upper limit, or the control
lever is released.

8.

To Lower the Upper Boom:

Push the control lever for the upper boom to
the down position until the boom begins to
lower.

Note

If both main booms are raised they can both be
lowered at the same time by pushing both upper
and lower boom control levers to the lower
position.

9.

To Extend the Fly Boom:

Push the control lever for the fly boom to the
up position, the fly boom will extend until it
reaches its limit, or the control lever is
released.

10.

To Retract the Fly Boom:

Push the control lever for the fly boom to the
down position until the fly boom begins to
retract.

Slewing

The booms can be slewed 360

o

in ei ther di rec tion.

Ensure that the booms are raised clear of the
forward boom restraining point before
slewing.

When slew

ing be aware of the po

si

tion of the

knuckle at all times.

To slew push the con trol le ver in the di rec tion re -
quired, UP for slew to the RIGHT and DOWN for
slew to the LEFT.

Over-Centre Valve

All EPV Se ries units are fit ted with an over-cen tre
valve that is mounted on the main knuckle pin be -
tween the booms.

The func tion of this valve is to con trol the point at
which the up

per boom reaches its max

mum

height.

When this valve is ac ti vated two things will oc cur:

1. The upper boom will stop rising

automatically.

2. The lower boom will not lower if activated.

When this hap pens the up per boom must be low -
ered which will de ac ti vate  the over-cen tre valve
thus re stor ing all nor mal boom func tions.

Stowing

At the end of the work shift the EPV should be
placed in the stowed po si tion.

1. Ensure both booms are fully lowered and

locked into place with the boom lock pin and
restraining latch.

2. Ensure all stabilisers are fully retracted.

3. Ensure that no tools or objects are left in the

platform or on the tray of the truck that could
fall off in transit.

DO NOT drive the truck with the booms
unstowed or not properly locked down as
damage will occur to the booms and the slew
mechanism.

It is also probable that serious injury or
death could occur to other road users.
