Installing Windows 98 Drivers for Rover
If you are using Windows 98 SE, you will need to follow the instructions below to install a driver so that
your computer can communicate with Rover over the USB connection. (If you are using Windows 2000,
Windows Me, or Windows XP, you do not need to install a driver.)
Do not connect your Rover to your Windows 98 SE computer, until you have followed the first steps in
the instructions below.
Download and extract the installation file
1. Download
the
Rover2Win98Download.exe
file to your computer’s hard disk to a location you can
find, then execute it (double click it).
2. By default, this will start a process to extract (copy) temporary files to a new folder
C:\Rover2Win98
. If you wish, you can change this folder location in the dialogue box before
continuing.
3. Click
the
Unzip
button to start the extraction. When complete, select
Close
to close the dialogue
box.
Connect Rover and install drivers
4. Connect your Rover to a USB port on your PC.
5. The first dialogue box for the
Add New Hardware Wizard
will appear, indicating it is looking for
a driver for USBMSC Audio Player. Click
Next
.
6. In the next dialogue box, select
Search for the best driver for your device
and then click
Next
.
7. In the next dialogue box, check
Specify a location
and leave all other check boxes unchecked.
8. Click on the
Browse
button and navigate to select the folders you created in step 2:
C:\Rover2Win98
(If you picked a different folder location in step 2 above, select the folder you specified instead.)
Click
OK
after selecting the folder and
Next
.
9. The next dialogue box should indicate Windows is ready to install the driver. Click
Next
.
10. Windows will copy driver files and build the driver information database. When this step is
complete, click
Finish
.
11. Windows will now start a second
Add New Hardware Wizard
will appear, indicating it is looking
for a driver for SigmaTel MSCN SCSI Host Adapter. Click
Next
.
