Connecting RGB Input Sources to the X-Port 30 Unit
This section explains how to connect RGB input sources to the X-Port 30 unit and how to
integrate input sources that produce other types of video signals.
Use the ports labeled 1 to connect the main computer. For other input sources, use the input
connection ports consistently. Don’t, for example, connect one source’s serial cable to serial
port 2 and its video cable to video port 3.
NOTE:
The necessary cables for connecting input devices aren’t supplied with the IM-150.
To connect the main computer
1
Connect an RS-232 serial cable from the main computer to the female serial port on the
connection panel.
To connect a Macintosh computer using a serial cable, you’ll need a Macintosh serial
adapter. Connect this adapter between the RS-232 cable and the computer, as described
in the
SMART Board User’s Guide
.
NOTE:
If your computer has a USB port but no available serial port, use one of the SMART
USB adapter cables (USB-ADP or the longer USB-FRU, which requires a 9-pin M/M gender
adapter). Contact SMART Technologies Inc. for ordering information.
2
Connect the HD DB15 RGB cable from the computer monitor port to the female video port
on the connection panel.
3
Connect a 3.5 mm audio cable from the computer to the audio port on the connection
panel.
4
Connect the X-Port 30 unit power supply to the power cable port shown below. Connect
one end of the country-specific power cable to this power supply and the other end to a
wall outlet.
