INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Unbolt the front track bar from the passenger side of the axle,
saving the OEM hardware.
2. Raise the front of the vehicle & support securely with jack
stands under the frame behind the front springs & block the rear
tires / wheels. Remove the front tires / wheels & u-bolts
Caution: Once the u-bolts are removed, the front axle will
be free to move, so support securely on a floor jack.
Slowly
lower the axle away from the front springs for ample room to
mount the new Skyjacker track bar bracket.
3. Place the new track bar bracket into the OEM track bar mount.
(See Photo #1)
Note:
The lower track bar bracket for models
made from 3/99 & later, looks slightly different from the track bar
bracket shown in the photos.
Note:
You may need to lightly tap
the new track bar bracket down in place. Rotate the top of the
new track bar bracket toward the passenger side leaf spring
until the rear gusset is against the OEM track bar mount.
4.
Models prior to 3/99
- Insert the 9/16" x 3 1⁄2" bolt with washer through the OEM mounting hole
& tighten the locknut to hold the new track bar bracket in place. Using new bracket's left tab as a
guide, drill a 1/2" hole through the
outer
OEM plate
only
. (See Photo # 1) Insert the 1/2" x 1 1⁄2"
bolt with washer & tighten the locknut. Reattach the track bar using the OEM hardware. (See
Photo # 2) Completely tighten all hardware.
5.
Models 3/99 & Later
- Insert the 20mm x 90mm bolt though the OEM mounting hole using the
20mm locknut provided & tighten to hold the new track bar bracket in place. Using the new track
bar bracket's left tab as a guide, drill a 9/16" hole through both the
inner & outer
OEM plates.
(See Photo # 1) Insert the 1" long spacer inside the OEM mounts. Insert the 9/16" x 3" bolt with
washer thru spacer & tighten the locknut. Reattach the track bar using the OEM hardware (See
Photo # 2). Completely tighten all hardware.
6. Remove the center tie bolt from the leaf springs & install the new Skyjacker add a leaf under each
spring assembly using the new Skyjacker center tie bolt provided.
Note:
the new Skyjacker add a
leafs are center pinned so they can be installed with either end toward the front or rear.
7. Raise the axle up to the leaf springs being sure that the leaf spring center tie bolts align with the
axle tube. Reinstall the OEM u-bolts & tighten. Install the front tires / wheels & lower the vehicle to
the ground.
