WARNING:
Never use the telescope to look directly at the sun.
Permanent eye damage will result.
Using the Telescope
1. Select the 20 mm (wide-angle) eyepiece. Remove the
protective caps (see
Figure 1
on reverse). Carefully insert the
chrome barrel of the eyepiece into the focuser. Tighten the
screws gently to secure.
2. Remove the main telescope dust cap.
3. Position the telescope to the desired angle by tilting the
telescope tube up and down or swiveling the telescope around
the base. Adjust the tension control knob as needed.
4. Use the fi nderscope to roughly point your telescope at your
target. Outdoors during the day, sight an object at least 500
metres away. Twist the fi nderscope focusing wheel until focus
is reached.
5. Check that the object is in the centre of the view in the
fi nderscope. If not, use the three alignment screws to centre
the fi nderscope crosshairs on the object.
6. Once your object is aligned, look through the 20 mm (wide-
angle) eyepiece. Focus your telescope by turning the focusing
wheel until you have a sharp image.
7. For viewing at a higher magnifi cation, swap to the 4 mm or
10 mm (high magnifi cation) eyepiece. You may need to use the
focusing wheel to focus and sharpen the image.
