9. Maintenance
9.3 Set to bypass mode (service position)
(Version delivered up to 14 August 2002)
see 9.2 ”Bypass mode” and Fig.13
Releasing the bypass valve
•
Insert an allen key (WAF 2) (
1
) in the lok-
king pin (
2
)
•
Loosen
the locking pin
(
2
)
by turning it
1 revolution counterclockwise
Adjusting the bypass valve
•
Insert a screwdriver (
3
) in the bypass valve
(
4
) or (
5
)
•
View
A
Turn the bypass screw (
SMD 1B/SMD 2
)
(
4
) counterclockwise until the stop is rea-
ched (approx. 90°)
•

B
Turn the bypass screw (
SMD 1B/SMD 2
)
(
5
) clockwise until the stop is reached
(approx. 90°)
or:
•
Turn the bypass screw (
SMD 3
) clockwise
until the stop is reached (approx. 180°)
•
Use a an allen key (
1
) to tighten the lockin
pin (
2
) by turning it clockwise 1 revolution
After turning the bypass valve, the gears
in the gear will stop. The oi low is routed
directly through the bypass an the throttle
screw to the respective lube point and this
way continues to supply the lube point
with the required low.
•
Check the bypass function
Attention!
The oil in the gear chamber is under
pressure. The oil can escape from the
gear chamber if the cover bolts are
carefully
loosened
1 turn
(the gasket
(cf. Fig. 14) thus remains in its seat).
After some 10 seconds the oil low
from the gear chamber must have
dropped to a minimum (a fast string
of drops at the most). If that is not the
case, it has to be assumed that the
bypass screw isn’t properly shutting off
the oil low to the gear chamber. The
bypass valve has to be readjusted. If a
large amount of oil escapes instead of a
string of drops, abort the service routi-
ne and retighten the cover bolt. When
doing so, pay attention to whether the
gasket (cf. Fig. 14) is correctly seated!
We recommend that the ”open bypass
function” be retained.
In the ”open bypass function” the lube
point will continue to be supplied with
the
full
amount of oil. There is no
monitoring of the volumetric low while
in the ”open bypass function” position.
The necessary service procedure has to
be performed, at the latest, when the
machine is shut down again.
• Loosen cover bolts (SMD 1B /SMD 2 = 4x,
SMD 3 = 6x)
1 turn each
!
As a result of the drop in pressure a small
amount of oil will emerge between the pla-
stic cover and the gear chamber. After 10
seconds the oil low from the gear chamber
must have dropped to a minimum (a fast
string of drops at the most) (otherwise –
see pointer above).
• Completely loosen the cover bolts and
remove the plastic cover.
• Perform the service procedure
