About the battery and the charger
Note
The Simrad PX MultiSensor will not take charge at
temperatures below 0°C (32°F). Recommended charging
temperature is b5 and +45°C (+41 to +113°F).
In order to provide a long lifetime, the battery used in the
Simrad PX MultiSensor is a Li–Ion battery.
The Simrad PX MultiSensor Charger is designed
especially for charging this battery. It must only be used
to charge the Simrad PX MultiSensor.
Important
The Simrad PX MultiSensor Charger must only be used
to charge the Simrad PX MultiSensor.
Cleaning the charger sockets on the PX
MultiSensor
The sockets on the PX MultiSensor will be filled with
sea water when the sensor is used. This water must be
removed before the charger plug is inserted. All the
sockets on the PX MultiSensor must be dried and cleaned
before charging can take place.
Important
The PX MultiSensor must never be charged when it is
mounted in the door adapter or on the trawl.
1
Use high pressure air, and direct the nozzle into each
of the sockets. Blow out water and moisture.
2
Use a small brush or a cotton swab, and clean each
socket thoroughly.
3
Wipe off the sensor with a dry lint free cloth. Pay
special attention to the area close to the sensor sockets.
Charging instructions
Observe this procedure to charge the battery in the Simrad
PX MultiSensor.
1
Make sure that the ambient temperature is between 0
and +45°C (+32 to +113°F).
Tip
If you try to charge the sensor in ambient temperatures
below 0°C (32 °F), an internal safety mechanism will
prevent the charging.
2
Verify that the sensor sockets are clean and dry, and
that salt residues and moisture have been removed.
Important
This is important. Salt and moisture in the sensor
sockets will increase the transition resistance, and it
will cause the charger plugs to corrode.
