Technical notes
Projects can take quite a bit of space on the hard disk. Therefore, it is not
recommended that you create multiple copies of the same project. If you wish
to save a particular project configuration for later use, you can do this using the
Older version of Composer (e.g., MP3.15 and earlier) will show a different

5.1.1.2
Opening an existing project
Composer allows you to open
previous project versions.
The project version displays in the Projects Management window next to each
project name.
Different versions of a project are handled by Composer by two ways:
For projects version MP4.30 and later, you are permitted to
save the project in
the older version.
Projects version MP3.15, MP3.20, MP4.10, MP4.15, and MP4.20 are
automatically updated (with the exception of very old versions listed in the
DMS8000 products Release Notes).
Opening a project version with optional update
When Composer opens a project that can be handled without version update, the
following window displays:
Open Project window with optional update to current version
You can select how you want Composer to handle the project, whether you want to
update it to a newer version or keep it as it is. Obviously, the decision depends on
which DMS8000 product version will be running this project on site.
If you keep the original version, you can modify the project, save it, and then
restoring it on a system that runs the same version.
If you choose to update the project to latest version and then confirm this
decision when prompted, the project is automatically converted (note that this
procedure may take a few minutes) and then opened. At this point, you cannot
undo this update and can only run the project on DMS8000 systems equipped
with the corresponding updated version.
Please refer to the latest DMS8000 products
Release Notes for detailed
instructions on how to migrate from earlier versions.
If you choose to update, the following message displays:
