Auxiliary power
The auxiliary power is an electric supply or reference voltage required by certain electric
circuits in addition to the standard supply. For example, the auxiliary power may be
particularly stabilized, have a special magnitude or polarity, and/or exhibit other properties
which are of decisive importance for correct functioning of parts of the circuit.
Local User Interface (LUI)
Local user interface. Operator or human-machine interfaces which offer a user of the device
the following options:
● Operate the device, machine or system
● Observe status
● Intervene in ongoing processes
The local user interface contains a digital display and buttons.
OPOS interface
Describes a standard interface for connecting a positioner and a pneumatic linear or part-
turn actuator. The OPOS interface is based on VDI/VDE 3847. This interface features safe
positioner replacement during operation by means of an integrated blocking. This applies, in
particular, to safety-related applications.
Option button ("radio button")
Multiple radio buttons or option button. Radio buttons are standard elements of an user
interface. A radio button can adopt "marked" and "non-marked" statuses.
In contrast to check boxes, radio buttons can only be used to make one selection. That
means, that only one radio button can be marked from a group of radio buttons. The name
"radio button" is derived from the behavior of station buttons for old radio devices: as soon
as a new button is pressed, an already-pressed button disengages.
Slipstick effect
Slipsticking of solid bodies moving against each other. Dampened coupled surface parts go
through a quick succession of stick, tighten, separate and slip. The term is derived from the
English words "stick" and "slip".
