B.2 Electrostatic charging of individuals
Any person who is not conductively connected to the electrical potential of the environment
can accumulate an electrostatic charge.
The following figure indicates the maximum electrostatic charges that can accumulate in a
person who is operating equipment when he comes into contact with the materials shown in
the figure. These values comply with the specifications in IEC 801-2.

B.3 Basic measures for protection against discharge of static electricity
Ensure sufficient grounding
When working with electrostatically sensitive devices, make sure that the you, your
workstation, and the packaging are properly grounded. This prevents the accumulation of
static electricity.
Avoid direct contact
Never touch electrostatically sensitive devices if this can be avoided (for example, during
maintenance work). When you touch modules, make sure that you do not touch either the
pins on the modules or the printed conductors. If you follow these instructions, electrostatic
discharge cannot reach or damage sensitive components.
If you have to take measurements on a module, make sure that you first discharge any static
that may have accumulated in your body. To do this, touch a grounded metal object. Only
use grounded measuring instruments.
