4.16.2 Converter input voltage
The insulation system of SIMOTICS machines always complies with the requirements of stress
category C (IVIC C = high stress). The 1MB5 series, in shaft heights 400 and 450, is equipped
with two different winding systems:

● The insulation system is suitable for converter operation with the following voltage values.
Operation above these limits is possible when using a sine-wave filter.

NOTICE
Material damage caused by an excessively high supply voltage
The insulation system will be damaged if the supply voltage is too high for the insulation
system. This can completely destroy the machine.
● Comply with the peak voltages specified above.
4.16.3 Reducing bearing currents when operated with a converter
Taking the following actions will reduce the bearing currents:
● Ensure that the contacts are made over a large area. Solid copper cables are not suitable
for high-frequency grounding because of the skin effect.
