Motor without output components

WARNING

Danger to life if the feather key is flung out

A feather key in the shaft is only secured during transport to avoid any falling out of the key.

An open feather key sitting in the shaft will be flung out in operation. Death or serious injury

can result.
•

Remove an open feather key sitting in the shaft, or secure it so that it cannot be flung

out.

Installation as a direct drive for spindles

General procedure

Run in the bearings.
The bearings are run in at the factory in order to ensure that the bearing grease is

displaced before the motor is shipped. This precaution protects the bearings against

damage when the motor is accelerated to the maximum speed. However, it does not

ensure optimum distribution of the lubricating film. Experience has shown that the

lubricating film is not optimally distributed until the motor has been in operation for a

significant period of time, that is, up to 30 hours.
Before installing the motor, run in the bearings. This must be done for the following

motors:

–

New motors

–

Motors that have been in transport for a long time

–

Motors that have been in storage for a long time

Bearing noise will occasionally be audible during bearing run-in. The longer the motor is in

operation, the quieter the bearings will become until the noise disappears altogether.
