2.3 Electrical installation of the encoder
WARNING
Inadequately qualified personnel
If the encoder is electrically installed by inadequately qualified personnel then the functional
safety can be disabled.
Only qualified personnel are authorized to carry out the work.
These persons must be knowledgeable about:
•
Topics relating to functional safety
• Legislation, safety regulations and standards for functional safety
• Content of the detailed operating instructions provided
WARNING
Premature damage or destruction of the encoder
Electrostatic discharge can cause the encoder to fail.
Do not touch the connector pins.
Do not exceed the following tolerances regarding the motor supply voltage according to
EN 60034-1 Range A.
•
Voltage ±5 %
• Frequency ±2 %
Especially observe the following topics in the operating instructions Sendix SIL Encoders for
Functional Safety from the Kübler company:

WARNING
Incorrect connection assignment of the encoder
The connection assignment in the operating instructions Sendix SIL Encoders for Functional
Safety from the Kübler company is not applicable for the SIMOGEAR geared motor with
rotary encoder.
The valid connection assignment is coordinated with the geared motor.
