OSx Station Basics

SIMATIC PCS 7 OSx 4.1.2 Operator

Any utility that does not allow a state change (such as action request

configuration, alarm group configuration, alarm tag configuration) can block

the state change. This ensures that the system saves configuration data in a

consistent manner.

CAUTION

If you change system state and then open a multi-screen display (press
Ctrl Alt F1), the system may not complete the state change. At this point, the
system is unrecoverable. An engineer or system administrator with the
appropriate security privilege must shut down OSx and Linux and reboot. Some
process data may be lost as a result.

Do not attempt to open a multi-screen display during a state change.

When the operator opens a multi-screen, the system suspends writing to the

graphic adapter and queues up these requests. If the queue fills up, then

any new requests are discarded. The failure to change state correctly is due

to requests to the system for window additions or deletions that are

eventually ignored. Avoid any changes to a multi-screen except when the

OSx system is in the Shutdown state.
