Cleaning
WARNING
Explosion hazard in Zone 22
The layer of dust on the enclosure of the AFD4 / AFD4 (FM) / AFD8 / AFS must not exceed
a thickness of 5 mm.
Remove the dust layer on the enclosure regularly!
Note
Following cleaning, run a functional check of the AFD4 / AFD4 (FM) / AFD8 / AFS.

Explosion hazard
In mixed operation with AFD (6ES7157-0AF81-0XA0), disconnect the FDC 157 couplers
from the voltage before you replace the AFD4 (6ES7157-0AG81-0XA0), AFD4 (FM)
(6ES7655-5DX40-1AA1) and AFD8 (6ES7157-0AG82-0XA0) field distributors.

Replacing active field distributor AFD4 / AFD4 (FM) / AFD8
Note
At points where you want to connect devices, replace the blanking caps inserted in the
delivery state with FM-approved screwed glands (cable gland, metric, with sealing ring: M
16x1.5: L= 8-10mm, M 20x1.5: L= 8-10mm, torque (1.8 Nm)).
DANGER
Explosion hazard
In hazardous area Zone 2, you are not permitted to disconnect the main line from an AFD4
/ AFD4 (FM) / AFD8 during operation if it is connected directly to a FDC 157 coupler or an
AFS.
Before you start the work, disconnect the FDC 157 coupler(s) from the voltage.
