Requirement
● PCS 7 is installed.
● All users must be assigned to the "SIMATIC HMI" user group. This also applies to users
who want to open the OS projects remotely.
– Windows administrators have unrestricted permissions to access the OS database.
– Members of the "SIMATIC HMI" user group have "Read/Write" permissions for access
to the OS database.
Members that have also been added to the "SIMATIC HMI VIEWER" user group only
have the "Read" permission for access to the OS database.
● The following steps are performed with administrator rights
Procedure
Perform the following steps for all paths in which projects are located (STEP 7, PCS 7 or WinCC
projects):
1. Start the SimaticRights program.
You can find information on the availability of the file in the
Process Control System PCS 7;
PCS 7 - Readme file (see "Preface (Page 9)").
2. Select the path where the PCS 7 projects are or will be stored under "Storage location" .
Confirm with "OK".
Restrictions to standard Windows user permissions
The following permissions are restricted for users who only have standard Windows user
permissions after the installation of PCS 7:
● Access to the system information of the "System info" WinCC channel
Windows users with standard user permissions must be included in the "System monitor
users" Windows group if they need the following information:
System information of the "System info" WinCC channel:
– CPU utilization
– Status of swap file
● Restrictions on the use of ODK functions
The following ODK functions are no longer available for users with standard Windows user
permissions:
– CreateDatabase
– DatabaseAttach
– DatabaseDetach
