4.  DETERMINE OPERATING DC CURRENT PRIOR TO STARTUP 

The VNX50HH-2 modules are designed and tested to operate correctly at 8 amps. If the feed water 
meets the influent quality requirements for the VNX50HH-2, the current will be set independent of the 
Feed Water Conductivity (FCE). 
 
 

Set the power supply to operate in constant amperage mode and set the 
amperage at 8 Amps DC. 
 

Note – This procedure is different from our typical startup amperage calculation that would be calculated 
based on the Feed Water Conductivity Equivalent (FCE). 
 

5. START-UP PROCEDURE 

5.1. Test interlocks 

 

•

  Test flow switches and other interlocks, including the RO interlock if applicable 

 

•

  Test pressure relief if applicable 

 

•

  Set alarm points 

 

5.2.  Notes on Recovery, Silica and Hardness 

 
 
VNX50HH-2 

 

•

  VNX recovery of 90% is limited to systems with feed water total hardness of less than 1 ppm 

as CaCO

3

. For systems operating with CEDI feed water hardness from 1 – 2 ppm as CaCO

3

 

the maximum water recovery is limited to 80%. In addition there is a minimum reject flow of 
2.6 gpm per VNX modules. 

 

•

  For normal recovery of 80-90%, feed water silica must be 

≤

 1 ppm as SiO

2
