Making cost-effective
calls
Make phone calls through a network pro-
vider who offers cheap rates (call-by-call) or
have the charges displayed after the call
(ISDN only).
Using the Internet (VoIP) is the preferred
cost-effective way of making calls.
Defining dialling plans
You can also use your phone's cost control
function for calls to fixed line or mobile net-
works. In addition to your fixed line/ISDN
connection, you can open accounts with
various VoIP providers offering favourable
rates for calls to other networks. In the
phone configuration, define the best
connections (account), e.g., for specific
regional, national and mobile network
codes, to be used when calls are made
(

Or define the send connection to be used
when you actually dial the number (dialling
via line selection,
Linking a number with a
call-by-call number
You can predial call-by-call numbers for calls
via your ISDN or fixed line connection. Use
the call-by-call numbers to select the net-
work of a cost-effective provider for a call.
You can store the call-by-call numbers from
several network providers in the local direc-
tory
To prefix a number with a call-by-call
number ("linking"), when the base is in idle
status:

Displaying call duration/
charges
The
duration
of each call appears in the dis-
play for all external calls

During the conversation

Until approximately 3 seconds after
replacing the receiver.
Calls via an ISDN connection:
For outgoing external calls, the
call charges
are displayed or the number of
call units
instead of the
call duration
if you have
authorised your network providers to trans-
fer the charge information.

The actual duration of the call can vary
from that shown by a few seconds.
