PROFIBUS DP/-PA

PROFIBUS DP/-PA is the leading fieldbus on the market. All Siemens gas analyzers with an

optional - also retrofittable - plug-in card are profibus-compatible and fulfill the binding

"Device profiles for analysis devices" defined by the PNO (PROFIBUS user organization).

Central access to the system analyzers is possible with the software operation tool SIMATIC

PDM.
"Fieldbus" is the name of a digital communication system with which distributed installed field

devices of a system are linked with each other via a single cable and are connected to

automation devices or a process control system.
The PROFIBUS-DP version is widespread in production automation due to its high

transmission speed per device, while PROFIBUS-PA takes the required properties of

process engineering into account, such as use in Ex areas.
