The controller does not start the measurement
Observations:
When the controller is switched on: the LED “Power” on the front panel of the
device and the LED “Power On” on the rear panel of the device are lit.
The LED’s light up for approx. 3 seconds on the front panel of the device when
the controller is switched off and subsequently switched on and a signal tone is
audible. The LED “Power On” on the rear panel of the device is lit.
Possible causes and solving the problem
Miscellaneous
–
Check whether communication can be established with the controller: Connect
the controller with a USB cable or an Ethernet cross-over cable to a PC /
notebook on which the FibroManager has been installed. Should the controller
be displayed in the “Quick Start” dialog and can be added to the tree view of the
FibroManager, then the corresponding interface is functional.
–
Read out the event memory and check for error messages. Should a device
error be present, please contact the technical support and if required, send in
the controller for repairs.

Name Description
Troubleshooting
Unknown
Fibre is not yet checked.
Check channel
Scanning
Fibre check is running.
Await the end of the check. If no other status is
displayed within 1 minute, then cancel the check and
restart it.
OK
Fibre is ready for
measurement.
---
No fibre / fibre is too
long
No fibre was detected or
the connected fibre is too
long for the controller
model.
This message is displayed when no fibre is connected
or the fibre is too short or too long. In this case, a fibre
must be connected respectively the length of the sensor
fibre must be checked (at least 100 m, not longer than
100 m of the range of the controller). Furthermore the
sensor fibre must be checked for possible fibre breaks.
Check connector
The fibre connector at the
controller has too high
attenuation or return loss.
Clean as described in this document. If necessary,
replace the fibre-optical connector of the sensor cable.
Check termination
The fibre termination has
too high return loss.
Terminate the sensor fibre correctly as described in the
installation manual. If necessary, check the sensor fibre
for fibre breaks.
Check fibre
The fibre shows high
point losses and / or
attenuation.
Check the backscatter curve with the FibroManager and
compare the attenuation with the requirements as
specified in the operation manual. If necessary, contact
the support department or install a correct sensor cable.
