Setting LPO mode
z Switch Carina to standby mode.
z Press » Select Menu « button.
z Press » Config. « button.
z Press » « button.
z Press » LPO « button.
z Select and confirm » On « with rotary knob.
The status line on the screen shows » LPO «.

concentration
z Set oxygen flow at the flow control valve in
accordance with medical prescription:
max. 500 hPa at 10 L/min
z During periods when the ventilator is not being
used, close off the O
2
supply to prevent excess
oxygen from escaping.
The patient’s O
2
concentration is influenced by:
– the hose system used
– O
2
concentration delivered by the O
2
concen-
trator used
– set O
2
flow on the O
2
concentrator (LPO flow)
– administered minute volume on Carina (MV)
– mean airway pressure P
mean
The O
2
concentration for the patient is set at the
defined ventilation parameters only using flow reg-
ulation at the flow control valve or at the O
2
concen-
trator. Use charts to estimate flow control, see
page 79.
