Parameterizing the 3RW51 soft starter

Requirements

●

The 3RW51 soft starter is installed and connected.

●

The rated control voltage and rated operational voltage are applied.

●

Suggested settings (Page 72).

Note
Tips for parameterizing the 3RW51 soft starter
Entering the motor and load data in the STS software (Page 21) will simulate the application

and a suitable soft starter will be suggested. In addition, information regarding

parameterization is also provided.

Procedure

You set the parameters on the setting elements of the 3RW51 soft starter.
Setting elements on the 3RW51 soft starter (Page 69)

Set the motor overload protection on setting elements "CLASS" and "I

". The scale for

rated operational current I

is listed for each connection type in the table on the front of

the 3RW51 soft starter.

Make sure that the arrow of the "CLASS" setting elements points to the required setting.
Setting the Electronic motor overload protection (Page 89).

Set the soft starting at the setting elements "t" and "U". (Page 83)

Set the current limiting at setting elements "Current limitation value x I

Setting the Current limiting function (Page 86) for I

Set soft stopping at setting element "t". (Page 88)

Activate the Soft Torque function, if required.
Setting RESET MODE and Soft Torque (Page 74)
Soft Torque (Page 91)

Set the required RESET MODE (Page 74).

Set the signal of your choice at the ON / RUN relay output (Page 77).

Result

The 3RW51 soft starter has been parameterized and is ready to operate. You can

parameterize the signal of the analog output via an optional 3RW5 HMI High Feature.
