•
Exactly 1 host device.
•
Maximum 3 guest devices.
A host-guest group is a logical connection of safety laser scanners, i.e. the safety laser
scanners do not have to be adjacent in the network topology.
The guest devices can use the local inputs of the host for monitoring case switching.
The microScan3 Pro I/O provides the input information in Assembly 114. Other micro‐
Scan3 accept them in assembly 104.
The host can switch its local outputs based on its own monitoring results as well as
on the monitoring results of the guest devices. The microScan3 devices used as guest
devices provide the monitoring results in Assembly 110. The microScan3 Pro I/O used
as host receives the monitoring results in Assemblies 106 ... 108.

Testing plan
The protective device must be tested by appropriately qualified safety personnel when
commissioning, after modifications and at regular intervals.
The manufacturer and user must define the type and frequency of the thorough checks
of the machine on the basis of the application conditions and the risk assessment.
Determination of the thorough checks must be documented in a traceable manner.
The following tests must be planned:
•
Before commissioning the machine and after making changes, you must check
whether the safety functions are fulfilling their planned purpose and whether
persons are being adequately protected.
•
The regular tests of the safety laser scanner must fulfill certain minimum require‐
ments.
A test object is required for some thorough checks. An optically opaque cylinder with
a black surface can be used as a suitable test object. The diameter must match the
configured resolution.
4.6.1
Planning the thorough check during commissioning and in certain situations
Minimum requirements
The protective device and its application must be thoroughly checked in the following
situations:
•
Before commissioning
•
After changes to the configuration or the safety function
•
After changes to the mounting, the alignment or the electrical connection
•
After exceptional events, such as after manipulation has been detected, after
modification of the machine, or after replacing components
The thorough check ensures the following:
•
Compliance with all relevant regulations and effectiveness of the protective device
for all of the machine’s operating modes. This includes the following points:
°
compliance with standards
°
correct use of the protective device
°
suitable configuration and safety function
°
correct alignment
