Configuring the data interface
ISD 230-2111
Interface type
This unit is equipped with only one CL 20 mA interface (default setting:
CL 20 mA passi-
ve
).
Ø
The current sources in the device can be connected if necessary by closing the jumper
ST 16 (
Fig. 5-3
). The interface thus becomes
CL 20 mA active
.
In this case, note that the connection is different to that for passive operation (see also
Chapter 5.1.6 Connecting the data interface, Page 27
).

Interface type
This unit is equipped with a multiple interface which can be used to configure an
RS 232, CL 20 mA, RS 422 or RS 485 interface.
Damage to the interface module!
The interface modules in the ISD 230 may be damaged if the DIL switching blocks S 1 to
S 3 are set incorrectly for the required configuration.
Ø
Configure the data interface correctly in accordance with
Fig. 5-4
and
Table 5-2
.
Ø
Check the wiring before switching on the unit.
Ø
The jumper ST 16 (
Fig. 5-3
)
must not be closed
(inserted) if the RS 232, RS 422 or
RS 458 interface is used!
1.
Set the required interface by configuring the DIL switching blocks S 1 to S 3 (
Fig. 5-4
)
on the additional p.c.b. accordingly. An overview is shown in
Table 5-2
. The default
setting is CL 20 mA (passive).
2.
CL 20 mA:
if necessary, connect the current sources integrated in the device by
closing the jumper ST 16 (
Fig. 5-3
). The interface then becomes
CL 20 mA active
.
In this case, note that the connection is different to that for passive operation (see
also
