Testing the overtemperature protection (note)
Recommended maintenance interval: 1 year
This work should be performed by the customer service technicians of the manufacturer.
Preparation
1 For applications subject to the conditions of a type approval certificate (e.g. LEL
warning device):
Limit the operating conditions so that the EuroFID cannot become
hazardous if the classification temperature is exceeded (shut down connected
systems).
2 Open the housing of the analyzer unit so that the sensor block is accessible.
Test procedure
3 Measure the temperature of the sensor block with a thermometer (measuring accuracy:
±3 °C or more).
4 Open the menu “Setup temp. sensbl.” (

S. 117, §11.10 ).
5 Check whether the displayed actual value of the sensor block corresponds with the
measured temperature.
If this does not apply: Eliminate the malfunction in the “temperature sensor” section.
6 Note which sensor block setpoint temperature is set.
7 Change the sensor block setpoint temperature to the value of the classification
temperature (refer to type plate).
8 Observe the temperature of the sensor block: The temperature monitor should switch
off before the temperature of the sensor block has reached the classification
temperature.
If this does not apply: The temperature monitor must be adjusted (proceed according to
works regulations).
Final work
9 Set the sensor block setpoint temperature to the noted value once more.
10 Wait until the sensor block has cooled to the sensor block setpoint temperature.
11 Reset the temperature monitor.
12 Close the housing of the analyzer unit.
13 Reestablish normal operating conditions.
