Reset
A full reset of all the SP38’s operating parameters will be initiated when the ENTER button
is pressed and held until the word “Reset” changes to upper case “RESET.” This change
indicates that a full reset has been completed.
Resetting means that any configurations you have set (including Compass and Drive
Setup), as well as all parameter adjustments you have made, will be lost. You should use
the full-reset option only on the advice of an authorized Sitex service representative.
Caution! A “full reset” means that ALL of the parameters in the entire autopilot system will
revert back to the default settings installed at the factory. All custom information will be lost.
Vessel Type
Set the vessel type to match (as closely as possible), the kind of craft that the autopilot is
being installed on. The system then automatically selects a specific set of equations and
constants – for use in the SP38’s steering algorithms – which have been found to work
reasonably well with typical craft of the chosen type. Also selected are the initial values of
the Steering Parameters used in those equations (see the
Sea Trials and Auto Menu
sections for more details).
NOTE: during Sea Trials, and later in normal operation, you can adjust any or all of the
Steering Parameters’ values, to better suit your own vessel, and/or the current sea
conditions.
