Belt tracking will need to be adjusted every time the belt

is changed. A properly adjusted belt helps maximize belt

life and minimizes edge fraying.

To.test.belt.tracking,.do.these.steps:

1.

Remove all tools and objects from sander, and then

connect sander to power. Turn sander

ON

and then

immediately

OFF

If sanding belt moves toward disc, rotate tracking

knob counterclockwise (see

Figure

17).

If sanding belt moves away from disc, rotate track-

ing knob clockwise

Repeat the same process from

Step 2 until the

sander tracks properly and can be left running.

Adjusting.Belt.Tracking

Belt sanding allows you to sand with the grain along the

length of the workpiece.

To.perform.belt.sanding.operations,.do.these.steps:

1.

Turn power

ON

and allow sander to reach full speed.

2.

Place workpiece against surface of sanding belt,

using the backstop to prevent workpiece from being

thrown off by rotation of sanding belt while holding

workpiece firmly, as shown in

Figure

16

.

4.

Move workpiece across surface of belt for even belt

wear.
