Requirements on the installation
• Supply system cables and the safety-related control cables must be routed sepa-
rately, unless you are using genuine SEW hybrid cables.
• The length of the cable from the safety control system to MOVIAXIS
®
MMD60B must
not exceed 100 m.
• Wiring must comply with EN 60204-1.
• The safety-related control lines must be routed according to EMC guidelines and as
follows:
– Outside an electrical installation space: Shielded cables must be routed perma-
nently (fixed) and protected against external damage, or other equivalent mea-
sures.
– Inside an electrical installation space: Individual conductors can be routed.
Adhere to the regulations in force for the application.
• The safety-related 24 V power supply may not be used for feedback.
• Make sure that no parasitic voltages can be generated in the safety-related control
lines. The MMD60B does not detect a connection of the STO+ signal with indepen-
dent potential and of the STO- signal with ground. Short circuit detection or fault
exclusion must be implemented depending on the connection.
• Observe the values specified for safety components when designing the safety
circuits.
• For EMC-compliant installation, observe the information in the following publication:
– "MOVIAXIS
®
MMD60B" operating instructions
It is important that the shielding of the 24 V supply line is connected to the housing
at both ends.
• For all 24 V power supplies of MOVIAXIS
®
MMD60B and the voltage sources of all
stations on the fieldbus, only grounded voltage sources must be used with safe
disconnection (PELV) according to EN_60204-1 and rated values according to
EN_61131-2.
In case of a single fault, the voltage between the outputs or between any output and
grounded parts must not exceed DC 60 V.
• When planning the installation, observe the technical data of MOVIAXIS
®
MMD60B.
• If the safety relay is connected in a PP-switching manner, fault exclusion must be
performed for short circuits on the cable for controlling the STO input.
