Mounting tolerances
Adjust the following misalignments according to the coupling manufacturer's specifica-
tions when mounting couplings.

This method only achieves an accurate result
when the deviation of the coupling faces is
eliminated by turning both coupling halves by
180° and then calculating the mean value
from the difference (a1 – a2).
The following illustration shows the measure-
ment of axial offset using a straight-edge.
Permissible values for axial offset are usually
so small that the best measurement results
can be achieved with a micrometer dial. If
you rotate one coupling half together with the
micrometer dial and divide the deviation by
two, the deviation displayed on the dial indic-
ator indicates the offset (dimension "b") that
includes the axial offset of the other coupling
half.
