Pairing your Scanfob® RFID reader with an iOS device
(HID mode)
1.
Charge
the
Scanfob® RFID reader for 2.5 hours to achieve a full charge.
2.
Make sure that the
reader is in HID mode
(see instructions on the back side of this page for
switching between HID and SPP mode).
3.
Hold down the scan button (red circular logo) on the reader to turn on the device.
4.
On your iOS device, go to “Settings,” click “Bluetooth,” and
select “Scanf
ob
-‐
…” from the list of
devices (in iOS 5, “Bluetooth” can be found under the “General” menu inside “Settings”).
The
status next to the device will change to “Connected.”
5.
Your Scanfob® RFID reader is now paired and ready for use! You can scan
to cursor location in
any app that accepts keyboard input.
Pairing your Scanfob® RFID reader with an Android device
(SPP mode)
1.
Charge your Scanfob® RFID reader for 2.5 hours to achieve a full charge.
2.
Make sure that the reader is in SPP mode
(see instructions on the back of this page for
switching between HID and SPP mode).
3.
Hold down the scan button (red circular logo) on the reader to turn on the device.
4.
Open SerialMagic Gears on your Android device, and click “Connect.” (Seria
lMagic Gears
is
available in the
Google Play Store
.)
5.
In the popup box, click “Scan for devices.”
6.
You will see “Scanfob
-‐
…” Click this entry.
7.
You will be asked for a PIN. Enter 0000.
8.
Your Scanfob® RFID reader is now paired and ready for use! To scan to cursor location
in another
app, you will need to turn on SerialMagic Keys. Instructions for this can be found at:
