2 PolaRx5S overview
2.1 Hardware Specifications
2.1.1 Power Consumption
The power consumption of the PolaRx5S depends on its con fi guration. The following settings
directly in fl uence the amount of power consumed:
• The number of enabled GNSS frequency bands. For example, a receiver con fi gured
to track signals only in the L1 and L2 bands will consume less than a receiver
con
fi gured to track in the L1, L2 and L5 bands. Use the setSignalTracking command
to enable/disable signals. Note that a given frequency band is disabled only when all
GNSS signals in that band are disabled.
• Activation of the Ethernet interface: in power-critical applications, it is recommended
to not use Ethernet and to turn o
ff the associated hardware. This can be done with the
setEthernetMode command.
• Activation of the WiFi interface: use the setWiFiMode command or press the WiFi
button to turn the WiFi module o ff or on.
• The REF OUT frequency reference output: in power-critical applications, REF OUT can
be turned o
ff with the setREFOUTMode command.
The following table shows the nominal power consumption measured when 12 VDC is
supplied to the PWR connector:
