4 PREPARING THE DEVICE
Unpack
1. Carefully unpack the device. Follow the instructions for disposal of packaging materials in
chapter 9 – DISPOSAL.
2. The device may be protected for transport with transport locks. Remove these completely.
Do not use aggressive cleaners to remove remains of the transport locks.
3. Before connecting the device, check that the power cord or the device itself have no damages.
4. Check if content comprises all equipment parts, see chapter 2 – CONTENT.
5. Make sure that the device is disconnected from the power supply.
Selection of suitable location
Set up the device in a suitable place:
•
near a safety socket with 10 A minimum protection
•
horizontal and vibration-free
•
heat resistant
•
surface does not react with rubber feet
•
with a reasonable distance to extreme heat sources (> 1m)
•
not under wall cupboards to avoid damage by escaping steam
•
in a stable position to avoid the falling down
•
out of the reach of children
NOTE!
Before the fi rst use we recommend an initial cleaning and
rinsing process.
Initial cleaning / rinsing
1. Open the swing fi lter (3) by pulling it out with the handle.
2. Wipe out the swing fi lter (3) with warm water, if necessary with a mild detergent.
3. Close the swing fi lter (3) until it snaps into place.
4. Clean all removable parts such coff ee pot (5) and measuring spoon (7) before fi rst use, in
warm water, possibly with a mild detergent. Coff ee pot (5) and measuring spoon (7) are
dishwasher safe.
5. Fill the coff ee pot (5) with cold water.
6. Open the lid of the water tank (1) and pour the water into the water tank (2) until the mark ‘MAX’.
7. Close the lid of the water tank (1).
8. Place the coff ee pot (5) with closed lid onto the hot plate (6).
Ensure that the coff ee pot (5) is placed correctly under the outlet and that it presses up the
valve in the outlet.
9. Connect the device to the power supply.
10. Press the On/Off switch (4) to start the coff ee maker. The operation indicator lights up to
confi rm the start of operation.
11. Let the heated water fl ow into the coff ee pot (5) until the water tank (2) is empty.
12. Turn off the device by pressing the On/off switch (4). The operation indicator goes out.
13. Empty and clean the coff ee pot (5).
14. For an intensive cleaning repeat the rinsing process 2–3 times.
