OPERATION

WARNING!
Ensure that you read, understand and apply the safety and operational instructions before applying
the tester probes to the battery. Only when you are sure that you understand the procedures is it safe to proceed
with the testing process.
3.1
PREPARATION
#
WARNING!
Ensure that the vehicle, or battery, is in a well ventilated area before starting.
3.1.1
Check battery casing for cracks or leakage and confirm that it is 12 volts.
3.1.2
Clean battery terminals.
3.1.3
If possible, check electrolyte levels and top-up with distilled water as necessary.
DO NOT test for more than 10 seconds as damage may occur.
3.2
BATTERY TESTING
3.2.1
Press probe (fig.1.A) to the positive (+) battery terminal and probe (fig.1.B) to negative (-) terminal.
3.2.2
LEDs 1 through 3 at the bottom of the tester should light up showing a healthy battery, if less than 3 illuminate the
battery requires immediate maintenance.
NOTE: Some late models or larger vehicles may cause 4 LEDs to light up.
This is OK.
3.3
ALTERNATOR TESTING
NOTE: Idle the engine at 2000 rpm during the test (some vehicles may require a higher engine speed for an
accurate test).
3.3.1
Press the positive (+) probe (fig.1.A) onto the positive battery terminal and negative (-) probe (fig.1B) onto the
negative terminal.
3.3.2
The LEDs 1 through 3 should illuminate to show a healthy battery plus two more to show the alternator is working
efficiently. If only 1 illuminates or all LEDs illuminate the alternator is not working efficiently and will require
maintenance.
