Pre-flash
With some types of digital cameras, the light amount is
adjusted with the first flash and the image is taken with the
second flash (main flash). The first flash for adjusting the light
amount is called a pre-flash. When the mode switch is set to
[M] and the light level switch is set to [FULL], the strobe will
fire in synchronization with the pre-flash. As a result, it will
recharge during the second flash (main flash) and be unable
to fire.
