9 HIGH CURRENT DECK

The  High  Current  Deck,  in  conjunction  with  the  5000  Series  Tester,  amplifies  the
High  Source  current  to  provide  500/1000  amp  drive  to  the  anode  (collector).    Base
current  of  10  amps  is  standard  and  is  supplied  from  the  5000  Series  Tester  Low
Source power supply.

Programming is the same as the standard 5000 Series Tester with the  exception of
extended current limits.  Entry of anode (collector) current up to 500 or 1000 amps is
possible.

9.1 Installation

Installation of the High Current Deck is as shown in Figure 9-1.

Two  cables  with  6-pin  circular  connectors  attach  from  the  5000  Series  Tester  rear
panel to the High Current Deck rear panel.  The AC power is provided from the 5000
Series  Tester  and  the  High  Current  Deck

will not

operate without these cables.

Make these connections only with the 5000 Series Tester power switch

OFF!

Connect  the  Control  and  Control/Power  26-pin  cables  between  the  5000  Series
Tester and High Current Deck using the connections labeled on both rear panels.

Use the cable with box/banana jacks on one end and 14-pin circular connector on the
other to attach the 5000 Series Tester front panel terminals to the High Current Deck
front panel circular connector.

If  the  High  Current  Deck  was  not  part  of  the  original  configuration  or  if  you  want  to
reconfigure  your  system,  you  must  set  switch  #6  of  the  dipswitch  on  the  Analog
Board in the 5000 Series Tester.  The #6 switch enables (ON) or disables (OFF) the
High Current Deck.  Refer  to Section 6 to configure the  PCW Software for the  High
Current Deck.

CAUTION: Be sure AC power on the main system
is off before connecting the High Current Deck.
