9.1 Shutting Down the Implement
Skid Steer & Windrower
To shut down the implement, first bring the skid
steer to a complete stop. Then slow down the
windrower by reducing the engine speed before
disengaging the auxiliary hydraulics.
Park the skid steer on a level surface, place the
transmission in park or neutral and apply the
parking brake, lower the attached implement to the
ground, shut down the engine, remove the key, and
wait for all motion to come to a complete stop
before exiting the skid steer.
10. DISCONNECTING THE WINDROWER FROM THE SKID STEER
Before disconnecting the windrower, the auxiliary hydraulics must be disengaged and all rotation at a complete
stop. Lower the windrower to the ground. If the windrower is not resting securely on the ground, block the
implement up securely before attempting to disconnect it from the skid steer hitch.
1. Completely shut down the windrower and skid
steer and secure the skid steer in position by
applying the parking brake. Wait for all
movement to come to a complete stop before
exiting the skid steer. Never extend any part of
your body from the operator’s area to operate
latches or to disconnect hydraulic lines or the
height limiting safety chain.
2. Disconnect the windrower electrical control
harness and hydraulic hoses from the skid
steer. Lay them down on the windrower mount.
Do not let the hoses fall into mud or dirt, which
can contaminate and shorten the life of the
hydraulic hoses.
3. Remove the height limiting safety chain from
the front of the skid steer chassis.
4. Pull the latching handles upward to release the latch pins from the windrower hitch tabs.
5. Board the skid steer, fasten your seatbelt, and start the engine. Tilt the mounting plate forward and back
away from the windrower at the same time. The windrower should be released from the skid steer at this
point.
Always shut the Power Unit completely down, place the transmission in park, and set the
parking brake before you or anyone else attempts to connect or disconnect the Implement
and Power Unit hitches.
