Recognition / manual entry of stage sizes
S
TAGE RECOGNITION IS ACTIVATED
–
A
UTOMATIC RECOGNITION OF THE
STAGE SIZE
If the stage recognition is activated (SETUP/308 =
YES
), the CX plus automatically determines the
stage size after switching on and after switching off a stage, respectively. This value is saved as the
current stage size for this stage in the stage database after the first switching operation. Then, the
current stage size is quickly adjusted to the determined value during the first 50 switching operations.
The stage recognition for a stage is completed after 50 switching operations (switching on 25 times,
switching off 25 times).
The original stage size is now equated with the current stage size in the stage database. The monitoring
of the stage power loss is active for this stage from now on.
The stage recognition for a stage may be concluded prematurely by manually entering the stage size.
From the 51
st
switching operation on, the CX plus continuously adjusts the current stage size to the
determined value when switching a stage on and off.
The adjustment takes place softly, so that a heavy load fluctuation during the measurement does not
falsify the stage size. In this way, the power loss of a stage may be determined.
The updating and adjustment of the stage size is even active when the stage recognition is switched
off.
If the controller cannot identify a mains reaction during the first 3 switching operations (switching on and
off = 1 switching operation), the stage type of the affected stage is set to
“
FOFF
”.
If a stage has more than three switching operations and if the controller cannot identify a mains reaction
during 3 consecutive switching operations, the stage is considered as faulty by the control. If the function
“
Lock faulty stages
” is activated (SETUP/309 =
YES
), the affected stage is set to the stage type
“
Flty
”
and is ignored by the control. It is not possible to switch this stage manually. The stage symbol of the
faulty stage is flashing in the stage display on the display.
If the current transformer or the voltage transformer factor is entered, all stage sizes (current and original
stage size) are reset to the initial value of 3 var capacitive. The stage recognition starts all over again.
NOTE:
If inductive stages are connected, the stage sizes must be entered manually, because the initial
value is 3 var capacitive and thus cannot be switched on in case of a capacitive network.
P
ROBLEMS REGARDING THE STAGE IDENTIFICATION
The stage recognition can be inaccurate due to heavy and rapid load fluctuations. In this case, the
determined stage sizes may extremely deviate from the actual nominal value. It is possible, that a
capacitive stage is identified as an inductive stage. The control will not work correctly in this case.
Solution:
In this case, the stage sizes = stage nominal value must be entered manually.
Procedure:
Switch off the control.
Set the setting to
“
OFF
” in the SETUP menu 100/ PFC or 310.
Switch off the stage identification.
Set the setting to
“
NO
” (stage recognition off) in the SETUP menu 308.
Enter the stage sizes manually.
Enter the respective stage nominal value for all connected stages in the SETUP menu 402.
Check the stage type.
