If switches are used, they should be used solely for the SDDC or SMMC signals. Due to the 
short cycle time of the SMMC/SDDC communication, it is also recommended to - if possible -
deactivate all functions generating additional data traffic (like e.g. Spanning Tree Protocol 
(STP)).
