Figure 4-5 demonstrates the condition when the shutter and the image are in alignment. Even though the shutter
angle is greater than 180 degrees, the area of the image that would be double exposed is now blanked. The result is a
perfect picture.
It should be noted that the blanking interval of a standard video image is approximately eight percent. This means
that the shutter angle must not differ from 180 degrees by more than the 8 percent (14 degrees) or else a visible
artifact will occur. The phase stability and frequency tolerance of the system also become more critical as the phase
difference approaches the 8 percent.
