11. Storage
m
CAUTION
Never put a chain saw into storage for longer than 30 days
without carrying out the following steps.
Follow the cleaning instructions and maintenance instruc-
tions before storing the device.
Storing a chain saw
Storing a chain saw for longer than 30 days requires stor
-
age maintenance. Unless the storage instructions are fol-
lowed, fuel remaining in the carburetor will evaporate,
leaving gum-like deposits. This could lead to difficult start
-
ing and result in costly repairs.
• Remove the fuel tank cap slowly to release any pressure
in tank. Carefully drain the fuel tank.
• Start the engine and let it run until the unit stops to re-
move fuel from carburetor.
•
Allow the engine to cool (approx. 5 minutes).
• Remove the spark plug.
• Pour 1 teaspoon of clean 2-cycle oil into the combustion
chamber. Pull starter rope slowly several times to coat
internal components. Replace spark plug.
m
NOTE
Store the unit in a dry place and away from possible sourc-
es of ignition such as a furnace, gas hot water heater, gas
dryer, etc.
Puttig the saw back into operation
• Remove spark plug.
•
Pull starter rope briskly to clear excess oil from com
-
bustion chamber.
• Clean the spark plug and check that the electrode gap
is correct.
• Prepare unit for operation.
•
Fill fuel tank with proper fuel / oil mixture.
12. Transport
To transport the saw, empty the gas tank. Remove coarse
dirt from the saw with a bust or a hand brush.
13. Disposal and recycling
The unit is supplied in packaging to prevent its being dam-
aged in transit. This packaging is raw material and can
therefore be reused or can be returned to the raw mate-
rial system.
The unit and its accessories are made of various types of
material, such as metal and plastic. Defective components
must be disposed of as special waste. Ask about recycling
in the store or in the local municipal administration!
