Check the insulin
• Verify you have the right insulin.
• Take off the pen cap and check the appearance of the
insulin, it should be clear.
Attach the needle
• Wipe the rubber seal with alcohol.
• Remove the protective seal, and attach a new needle.
Do a safety test
• Set a dose of 2 units.
• Take off both needle caps.
• Hold the pen with the needle pointing up.
• Tap the insulin reservoir so that any air bubbles rise up
towards the needle.
• Press the injection button all the way in and check that
insulin comes out.
• If insulin does not come out, repeat the test.
• If no insulin comes out after 3 attempts,
attach a new needle and try again.
Set your dose
Example:
You can set the
dose in steps of 1 unit, up to
a maximum of 80 units per injection.
Inject your dose
• Insert the needle into the skin, as instructed by your
healthcare professional.
• Press the button all the way in.
• Keep the button pressed in and slowly count to 10.
• Withdraw the needle.

Finish
• Put the outer needle cap back on and use it to unscrew
the needle from the pen.
• Dispose of the needle safely, e.g., in a sharps container.
• Put the pen cap back on.
