TAKING UP THE BELT
HEAD DRIVE TYPE
① Remove pulley cover by removing cross-recessed pan
① head machine screws. (Alternatively loosen the screws
① and slide pulley cover.)
② On opposite side, loosen hexagon socket flush head
① bolts.
③ Loosen lock nut.
④ To take up belt, turn hexagon head bolt
① counterclockwise;
① to loosen belt, turn it clockwise.
⑤ Reinstall the removed parts in initial positions.
Belt Tension
For S-CON
®
MINI SLIM, the standard belt expansion for
proper belt tension is 0.2% of machine length.
How to calculate belt expansion percentage
1) Slacken belt.
2) Mark any two points on belt surface and measure
2) length between them ( ℓ ).
3) Take up belt.
4) Measure length between two marks (
ℓ1 ) again.
eg
ℓ= 1000 mm
ℓ1= 1002 mm
Belt expansion percentage = 0.2 %
CENTER DRIVE TYPE
① Loosen hexagon socket SEMS button head screws.
① (2 screws pointed in figure, right)
② To take up belt, lower motor; to loosen belt, raise
① motor.
③ Fix motor in intended position.
NOTE: Do not take up belt too much, but only to the extent that belt does not
NOTE: slip on drive pulley, i.e. enough to drive belt. Excessive belt take-up may
NOTE: overload motor or shorten service lives of belt, pulley, etc.
